The Krim players secured a victory in the final round of this season’s EHF Champions League group stage, defeating Podravka Vegeta 30:29. This hard-fought win not only brought them two points but also secured a fourth-place finish in Group A, granting them a slight advantage in the Play-Offs of Europe’s most elite club competition, set to take place in a month!
The new point is in the bag, but both were within reach. After the first half of the game against Danish Nykøbing, it even seemed like a dominant win was on the cards, but in the second half, the Krim Mercator players had to work hard. Until the very last second of the game, it seemed like they would succeed. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. The hosts scored at the sound of the final buzzer to make it 30:30, and the points were shared in Round 13 of the EHF Champions League.
The Slovenian Cultural Holiday ended in a jubilant celebration at Arena Stožice, as Krim Mercator’s handball players broke their losing streak with an important victory over Romanian CS Gloria BN 2018. The final score for their fifth set of points this season was 28:25.
A new point was well within reach this time, but a touch of luck was missing at the end. Luck that wasn’t on the side of Krim Mercator’s handball players, who had to concede defeat to Storhamar on their home court with a close score of 29:28. Their next chance awaits in two weeks – on Saturday, February 8, at 6:00 PM in Arena Stožice!
The game of the 10th round of the EHF Champions League will be quickly forgotten by the Krim Mercator squad. A meagre eight goals in the first half and a high defeat (36:23) against CSM Bucuresti meant that the Tigresses left the Romanian capital with their heads down. But the season is not over, nothing is lost. The next challenge is already knocking at the door.
The first game of the new coach Ambros Martin did not go the way the Krim family wanted. Handball club Krim Mercator officially announces that one of the greatest coaches in the history of women’s handball, Ambros Martín, will take over the role of the head coach of the women’s team on 25 November 2024. The coaching icon, who has marked European handball with his knowledge, passion and outstanding achievements, has signed a contract with the club until the end of the season.
Ambros Martín, one of the most respected coaches in women’s handball, has taken the helm of RK Krim Mercator. Ahead of his first training session with the team, the experienced Spaniard shared what drew him to the Slovenian club, how he views the current challenges, and the potential he sees in the players, whom he will lead in their upcoming game against FTC.
The handball players of Krim Mercator were unfortunately unsuccessful in their make-up test against the French team Metz. Although the defeat may not be as painful as the last time at home in Stožice, or the difference is not as high, the Krim are returning empty-handed from their away trip in France. 34:30 was the final score of the game, the last one before the long European break.
Handball club Krim Mercator informs that as of 11 November 2024 it has accepted the resignation of head coach Dragan Adžić. The club thanks the coach for his contribution and wishes him every success in the future.
