29th national championship title in the hands of the Tigresses

The handball players of Krim Mercator had already theoretically secured the title of national champions a few days ago. More precisely, on Sunday, 28 April, on the road in Ajdovščina. But they had to wait until the end for the trophy. Until the last game. Until Wednesday, 15 May, when they celebrated their 29th national championship title in the club's history in Stožice.

The last game against Mlinotest Ajdovščina did not bring any surprises (41:17).The Tigresses won again – for the 20th time this season – and remain undefeated in the strongest domestic women’s competition for the eighth season in a row.

Krim Mercator wins 29th national championship trophy and remains undefeated for the 8ht consecurive season in home competition!

In a competition in which the head coach of the Krim family, Dragan Adžić, offered many opportunities to players who might have played a few minutes less in Europe. That is why after the first part of this year’s national championship, three Tigresses were already in the top five scorers: Ema Abina (79 goals), Betchaidelle Ngombele (77 goals) and Elena Erceg (76 goals). The young Abina and Erceg also excelled in the ranking fort he 1st to 4th place, but the 20-year-old Congolese did even better, scoring 51 more goals to top the leaderboard.

The end of the season is far from a well-deserved break for the Krim Mercator. The Slovenian national team and Brazil’s Barbara Arenhart will soon be waiting for the Olympic Games in Paris, but the club is still putting together the final pieces of the jigsaw for the 2024/25 season. Who (else) Adžić will count on in the new season will be announced soon on our website and social media.
