Romanians too strong for a fifth consecutive victory

Four times in a row it went well, but unfortunately the fifth time it stopped. Two goals were conceded (29:31), and Krim Mercator handball players had to concede to their rivals CSM Bucuresti in Saturday's game at Arena Stožice. They are still on eight points in this season's EHF Champions League.

It could be said that this was the first game this season when the Tigresses did not have the game completely in their hands. The Romanians were only behind 1:0, but after that it was the guests who dictated the rhythm of the whole encounter.

Dragan Adžić‘s team fought hard and even caught their opponents a couple of times. This was at 4:4, 8:8 and 9:9. After 30 minutes of play, the Krim girls went to the locker room with a rather large four-goal deficit (15:19).

In the second half, fortunately for the loud home fans, their favourites woke up a bit. So much so that they breathed a little more to get behind the collar of Helle Thompsen’s team. It was mainly Jovanka Radičević and Tamara Horaček who made sure that the Krim girls came close to a minimal deficit before the last quarter. 25:26 was on the scoreboard, which announced a rather heated ending to the encounter.

Unfortunately, the Tigresses failed for the fifth time in a row this season. The defence was simply not where the home team wanted it to be, which was decisive for the Krim girls to concede the upper hand to their rivals. 29:31 was the final score.

Dragan Adžić, head coach of RK Krim Mercator: »The defence was simply not at the level we would have liked and the result is what it is.«

Ana Gros, captain of RK Krim Mercator: »It was a very difficult game. I have to agree that the defence was not the best. We were simply chasing the gap all the time and we were not able to overtake our opponents. In the second half, we suffered a bit more in attack.«
