With two points from hot Budapest

An outstanding performance for two very important points. The Krim Mercator players won them in the Hungarian capital, against FTC, whom they beat for the second time this season.

This time on the wings of Daria Dmitrieva‘s and Itana Grbić‘s remarkable nine goals and goalkeeper Maja Vojnovič. The final score in the Erd Arena was 28:26 for Krim Mercator.

The mood of the Tigresses on Saturday showed that this was their day. The good mood on the way to the game turned into an outstanding performance on the handball court. They led throughout the first half, flying on the wings of Daria Dmitrieva, who scored like a shot on cue. After 30 minutes of play, the Tigresses had a three-goal advantage. The scoreboard read 14:17.

They continued to play exceptionally well in the second half, when Itana Grbić came on. She put in her best performance of the season. The same could be said for Maja Vojnovič, who caused a lot of trouble for the Hungarian team between the posts.

In the 37th minute, Dragan Adžić‘s squad led 15:21, and the lead was a red alert for the opposing player Allan Hein. He took a minute break, but it didn’t bring a turnaround. The FTC handballers managed to get a bit closer in the next period, with Katrin Gitta Klujber scoring from the seven-metre line in the 54th minute to make it 24:27. A mistake by the blue jersey handballers followed, and on the other side the hosts reduced the deficit even further. The Krim entered the last five minutes with a two-goal advantage.

The next home game will take place on Saturday, 3 February at 18:00 at Arena Stožice against Ikast. Tickets are available HERE.

Maja Vojnovič made her 15th save of the game, but the Hungarians still managed to reduce the deficit to just one goal on the next attack. Tjaša Stanko then missed a goal, and the game was decided by Tamara Mavsar, who broke the ten-minute scoring spell of the Ljubljana team at the final buzzer for a final score of 28:26!
