With a lump in our throat and a lot of pride in our hearts, we say goodbye to the captain of HC Krim Mercator. Barbara Lazović will conclude her outstanding sporting career after the Olympic Games, and she has already played her last game in the blue jersey she wore for most of her career.
She started playing handball at her home club and joined the Ljubljana team in 2007 at the age of 19. She showed great talent and perseverance at a young age, and her game quickly won her the respect and love of the fans.

Her unwavering spirit and fighting spirit are also reflected in her numbers. In her career, she has scored 232 goals for Krim Mercator in Europe’s most elite club competition, and more than 540 times overall. Also as a member of Macedonian Vardar and Romanian CSM Bucharest. Her international experience has further strengthened her and she will bring much-needed experience and additional stability to the team when she returns home in 2022..
Her commitment to handball throughout her career has not been limited to the club level. Barbara was an indispensable member of the Slovenian national team, with which she competed at numerous European and World Championships. The only tournament she hasn’t tasted in her long career is the Olympic Games. But they are coming very soon… The realisation of a sporting dream, and the last big tournament where we will watch the national 25 for the last time.

Barbara Lazović is not only a player, she is a role model for younger generations and a symbol of perseverance and love for sport. Her name will forever be etched in the history of HC Krim Mercator, as she marked the club and Slovenian handball with her play, dedication and personality.
On the occasion of her farewell, a deep sense of respect and gratitude is felt in the club and among the fans. Barbara always played with all her heart. As she herself said: »Krim is not just a club, Krim is my family. I am grateful for all the moments I have spent here and for all the people who have supported me along the way.«
Barbara, thank you for everything! Thank you for the unforgettable moments, for your fight, for your heart on and off the field. We wish you all the best in your new chapter and we are sure that your love for handball will never fade. You will always be part of our family, you will always be our captain.
